Fall is peak seasons for animal-vehicle collisions as certain wildlife begin their winter migration.
The further north you head, the larger the animals seem to get.
OPP Media Coordinator Gosia Puzio has some tips if you encounter woodland creatures in your path.
She says don’t steer out of your lane but rather brake firmly and if unavoidable, brace for impact.
There is a collision involving a wild animal and vehicle every 38 minutes across Canada, each year it costs approximately $800 million in insurance.
Puzio says staying alert, watching your speed and avoiding areas where animals are known to frequent can cut down on possible impacts.
