It was a tale of two games for the Milton Menace.
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) team managed to get their first win of the season in convincing fashion on Friday night, beating the Stouffville Spirit 7-0. Captain Jordan Stock led the way with one goal and three assists, giving him four points on the night. The win was also goaltender Forbes Anderson’s first shutout in his OJHL career.

The team then took the ice the next night against the Oakville Blades. If the team was able to shut down the opposition for a full 60-minutes on Friday, that wasn’t the case on Saturday. Heading into the third with a 3-2 lead, the Menace then added another to make it a two-goal game. With less than eight minutes to go, the Blades scored. Oakville scored again with less than five-minutes to play, sending the game to overtime at 4-4.
Overtime didn’t prove to be fruitful for either team, with the game heading to second overtime. That was when Oakville’s Jacob Crisp scored, giving the Blades the 5-4 2OT win.
The Menace now sit at 1-2-1 on the season, last in the West Division. They’ll play their North Halton rivals in the Georgetown Raiders on Wednesday night. Gametime is set for 7:30 in Georgetown.
