Thursday (sep 30) is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a federal statutory holiday for some.
The day has been created to give everyone an opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the horrible legacy of Canadian residential schools system.
Christine Cicinski is the Principal at St. Paul’s Catholic School in Alliston.
She says each teacher will take a unique approach to the topic depending on the grade but the subject matter will remain the same.
All schools in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board are teaching the same information.
Many of the younger students will learn through activities and crafts.
