Police are again warning residents about phone scammers.
This after three people lost thousands of dollars when they thought they were doing the right thing.
South Simcoe Police are investigating reports where a caller claiming to be a bank investigator or a member of law enforcement told the victims there had been
unauthorized activity on their credit cards.
The only way to correct the problem was to purchase pre paid gift cards. Joker Prepaid Master Cards specifically.
Police say all 3 stories are similar and unfortunate two of the victims lost $4000 each, while another paid $10,000 for gift cards.
Investigators say if you receive one of these calls, hang up and call your bank to verify the information.
Never give out personal information over the phone.
