A death from COVID-19 is being reported by the Halton Region.
The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show an additional death in the totals. The death appears to have been a Burlington resident, giving the city 70 deaths from the virus. Oakville remains at 68, Halton Hills at 58, and Milton at 46. Halton is now at 242 deaths total from COVID-19. This is the fourth reported death from the virus this month in Halton.
Across Halton, there are 33 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 19,454. With 19,069 resolved cases and 242 deaths, Halton is now at 143 active cases, one more case than Monday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,454 total cases, 18,781 were confirmed positive while 673 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 12 new cases. That brings us to 6232 total cases. With 6153 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 33 active cases, two more case than Monday’s updates. The Region says that of the 6232 total cases, 5997 were confirmed positive while 235 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6536 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2222 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared in Milton. It was first declared on Wednesday, September 8th. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are now 17 reported cases. Two are considered Halton cases. 15 are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
A second outbreak has been declared in Milton, this time a school. Hawthorne Village Public School has two cases, both Halton cases. The outbreak was declared on Thursday, September 16th.
Another Milton school is now dealing with an outbreak. Irma Coulson Public School has three reported cases, each are Halton Cases. The outbreak was declared on Friday, September 24th.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 868,816 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 781,204 of the doses were to Halton residents.
438,420 second doses have been administered in Halton. 392,787 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 37,885 first doses and 43,902 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 38,227 first doses and 40,784 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;
- 25,034 first doses and 25,331 second doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;

- 37,590 first doses and 38,746 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 36,612 first doses and 37,246 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 35,164 first doses and 34,803 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 28,685 first doses and 28,336 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 25,249 first doses and 24,260 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,824 first doses and 22,214 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,227 first doses and 17,003 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,663 first doses and 24,354 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,874 first doses and 885 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 74,130 first doses and 95,357 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,812 first doses and 9971 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 342,454 first doses and 333,092 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 450,173 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.10% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 93,446 fully immunized residents – 0.10% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
