The Salvation Army Milton Khi Community Food Bank has opened its doors to indoor service.
It’s been doing drive-through service since the beginning of the pandemic.
The big opening happened on Monday, September 13th. Director of Family Services Ruth Hickman says it was a busy first day.
A big focus was providing a safe and clean space for COVID-friendly visits. Curbside/pre-packaged appointments remain available for those who are not yet comfortable with in-person appointments.
Hickman believes it’s about more than just feeding families.
She adds that more people in Milton are using the food bank now than before the pandemic. If you’re in need of food, they’re always open to taking more clients. Just call them at 905-875-1022.
These are the hours for the Food Bank:
- Mondays: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Market); 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (curbside);
- Tuesdays: 8am-2pm (Market);
- Wednesdays: 8am-2pm (Market);
- Thursdays: 9am-3pm (curbside); and,
- Fridays: 9am-5pm (Market).
The holiday season is coming fast. Hickman thanks the community in advance for generously supporting the food bank. They are currently requesting gift card donations for clothing/toys in the amount of $25 for their Christmas toy assistance program. Distribution begins mid-November.
