We have a spike in new cases for Halton heading into the weekend.
Across the region, there are 29 new cases today. The total number of cases is up to 19,346. With 18,950 resolved cases and 241 deaths, Halton is now at 155 active cases, six more cases than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,346 total cases, 18,685 were confirmed positive while 661 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have six new cases. That brings us to 6201 total cases. With 6121 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 34 active cases, one less case than Thursday’s updates. The Region says that of the 6201 total cases, 5970 were confirmed positive while 231 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6520 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2220 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared in Milton. It was first declared on Wednesday, September 8th. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are now 16 reported cases. Two are considered Halton cases. 14 are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
A second outbreak has been declared in Milton, this time a school. Hawthorne Village Public School has two cases, both Halton cases. The outbreak was declared on Thursday, September 16th.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 864,309 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 777,536 of the doses were to Halton residents.
435,480 second doses have been administered in Halton. 390,366 of those have been Halton residents.

- 17,214 first doses and 16,992 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,655 first doses and 24,338 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,832 first doses and 712 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 73,137 first doses and 93,576 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,812 first doses and 9970 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 341,880 first doses and 331,934 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 447,456 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.09% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 92,897 fully immunized residents – 0.09% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
