Culture Days returns for a month-long extravaganza

Culture Days finally kicks off this weekend!

The now month long annual event sees artists of all kinds perform and teach workshops for free across the town and online. Program Coordinator for Arts Milton, Kaitlyn Patience, tells you what to expect.

Culture Days used to be held in the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has been moved outdoors and online.

Arts Milton has provided the following schedule:

Saturday, September 25, 2021: (Rain date, Sept 26)
Milton Culture Days Opening Day featuring a “Pallet Bench Painting Party” at Milton Community Sports Park. 5 local artists (including Omar “Oms” Hopkinson, Aparna Rangnekar and Allycia Uccello) will each artistically paint a wooden bench made from re-purposed pallets (skids). The public is invited to watch the artists work from 12-4 pm in Picnic Area A. These benches will serve at seating for the Milton Culture Days “Saturday Stages” throughout the event.

October 2, 2021: (Rain date, Oct 3)
Miltonians are invited to Event Area A at Milton Community Sports Park from 12-4 pm to watch and participate in a variety of local performances including musicians, dancers, theatre actors and artists.
Performances and Activities include:
  • Opening remarks by Arts Milton and Mayor Krantz
  • Dance performance by The Dance Class
  • Music by The Starlite Dreamers
  • Panto Short by the Brightside Players
  • Art as Therapy Art Activity
  • Rick Imus Music Studip Rumble Concert
October 9, 2021: (Rain date, Oct 10)
Miltonians are invited to Event Area A at Milton Community Sports Park from 12-4 pm to watch and participate in a variety of local performances including musicians, dancers, theatre actors and artists.
Performances and Activities include:
  • Akwaba Cultural Exchange Drumming – The Beat
  • Lena Shahin Singer Songwriter
  • Magic of Tyler Fergus Show
  • Zaytouna Dance Performance
  • Drew Brown Performance
  • ArtHouse Upcycled Sculpture Creation
September 24-October 24, 2021:
Free online arts and culture workshops will be available from local facilitators including music lessons, dance classes, arts and craft workshops and more!
Examples:
  • Music Classes with House of Chords, Milton Academy of Music, CRASH Rhythm, Akwaba Cultural Exchange,
  • Art Classes in acrylic painting, watercolour and ink, Indian Folk Art
  • Literature workshops including readings for kids and adults, family heritage, Indian fiction, philosophy for families
  • STEM workshops with Snapology and e2 Young Engineers
  • Dance workshops with Bollywood West and The Dance Class
  • Language workshops with EC Drury and Hartmann’s Community Centre
  • Crafts with Resiliency & Me and Art Camp
