Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine certificate system is set to go into effect Wednesday morning.
Looking to reassure residents that the system will not infringe on their civil liberties Premier Doug Ford says the exceptional measures are temporary and will be lifted as soon as they can be responsibly removed.
Initially opposed to vaccine certificates, Ford announced the move earlier this month, which clear so-called passport holders access to dine-in restaurants, nightclubs, gyms, sports facilities and other venue.
Ontario’s top doctor is urging residents to be kind and considerate as the province’s COVID-19 vaccine certificate system becomes a reality today.
Chief medical officer of health Doctor Kieran Moore says he believes the passport will boost immunization rates.
He says it may take a bit of time for people to realize they cannot go to sporting events or bars without it.
