For the third time this month, a resident in Halton has reportedly died from COVID-19.
The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show an additional death in the totals. The death appears to have been an Oakville resident, giving the town 68 deaths from the virus. Burlington remains at 69, Halton Hills at 58, and Milton at 46. Halton is now at 241 deaths total from COVID-19.
Across Halton, there 24 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 19,154. With 18,742 resolved cases and 241 deaths, Halton is now at 171 active cases, five less case than Wednesday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,154 total cases, 18,504 were confirmed positive while 650 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have eight new cases. That brings us to 6154 total cases. With 6064 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 44 active cases, one more case than Wednesday’s update. The Region says that of the 6154 total cases, 5925 were confirmed positive while 229 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6456 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2203 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared in Milton. It was first declared on Wednesday, September 8th. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are six reported cases. One is considered a Halton case. Five are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 856,340 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 770,989 of the doses were to Halton residents.
430,515 second doses have been administered in Halton. 386,212 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 37,092 first doses and 42,539 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 37,654 first doses and 39,631 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;

- 37,232 first doses and 38,163 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 36,303 first doses and 36,779 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 34,958 first doses and 34,447 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 28,561 first doses and 28,128 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 25,169 first doses and 24,139 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,779 first doses and 22,136 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,192 first doses and 16,959 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,634 first doses and 24,303 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,765 first doses and 375 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 71,276 first doses and 90,545 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,757 first doses and 9878 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 340,792 first doses and 330,092 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 442,466 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.08% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 91,636 fully immunized residents – 0.08% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
