We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were five cases across Halton last week. Fortunately, none of the cases involved Milton:
On Tuesday, September 7th, just before 11:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Thomas Alton Boulevard and Steeplechase Drive in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 63-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, September 8th, just after 3:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Hixon Road and Bronte Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, September 8th, just before 5:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Headon Road and Upper Middle Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 66-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, September 9th, just before 12:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Appleby Line and Corporate Drive in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 34-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, September 9th, just before 12:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Appleby Line and Harvester Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Toronto man was charged with operation while impaired.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
