We’re heading into the weekend with local COVID-19 numbers on the rise.
Across Halton, there 27 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 18,992. With 18,587 resolved cases and 239 deaths, Halton is now at 166 active cases, three more cases than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 18,992 total cases, 18,357 were confirmed positive while 635 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have eight new cases. That brings us to 6110 total cases. With 6030 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 34 active cases, four more than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 6110 total cases, 5887 were confirmed positive while 223 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6416 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2194 total variant cases.
An outbreak in Milton has officially closed. The outbreak at ‘Workplace – 154’ was first declared on Monday, August 23rd. There were two reported cases. Both were considered ‘non-Halton’ cases, meaning they are not Halton residents. It officially closed on Thursday, September 9th.
A second outbreak has been declared in Milton. It was first declared on Wednesday, September 8th. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are five reported cases. One is considered a Halton case. Four are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 850,917 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 766,555 of the doses were to Halton residents.
427,319 second doses have been administered in Halton. 383,548 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 36,718 first doses and 42,065 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 37,359 first doses and 39,237 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;
- 24,237 first doses and 24,182 second doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
- 28,662 first doses and 28,170 second doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
- 33,081 first doses and 33,150 second doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
- 35,575 first doses and 36,234 second doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
- 37,069 first doses and 37,897 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 36,162 first doses and 36,572 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 34,848 first doses and 34,301 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 28,506 first doses and 28,028 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 25,139 first doses and 24,087 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,759first doses and 22,102 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,181 first doses and 16,943 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,613 first doses and 24,275 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,689 first doses and 76 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 69,868 first doses and 87,933 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,716 first doses and 9851 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 340,014 first doses and 329,535 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 439,517 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 90,899 fully immunized residents – 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
