Overdoses continue to be an issue for Halton.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) took to Twitter to tell its followers how August was the worst month so far this year for drug poisonings in Halton. To add onto that, just one week into September, there were already at least ten overdoses reported across Halton.
⚠️ OVERDOSES ⚠️
Let's start with the bad news.
Our officers attended more drug poisonings last month than any other month this year. More than half involved fentanyl and/or an unknown drug.
We're only a week into September and we have already been dispatched to another ten.

A follow-up tweet provided some good news, though. HRPS officers were able to give naloxone in three of the cases in August. In nine other overdoses, bystanders were able to administer naloxone to the victim. That’s a combined 12 overdoses that were reversed.
If you or someone you know use drugs, the HRPS recommends that you carry naloxone. It could save a live. Find out how to get a free naloxone kit here.
Now for the encouraging news.
Our officers gave naloxone at three of these overdoses. Bystanders gave naloxone at another nine of these overdoses.
That's 12 overdoses reversed.
If you use drugs or know someone who does, carry naloxone. Find it here: https://t.co/6VoBYjBAzk pic.twitter.com/uL0lM9stPL
