Health Canada is recalling a set of plates, bowls and mugs from IKEA.
The products are considered a burn hazard after several broke apart with hot liquid inside. The dishes are from the HEROISK and TALRIKA dinnerware series. They are made from PLA (Polylactic acid or polylactide) material from renewable plastics in a variety of colours. The article name (“HEROISK” or “TALRIKA”), supplier number “23348”, “Made in Taiwan” and “PLA” are moulded into the bottom of each item.
As of May 13th, 123 reports of the products breaking have been issued globally. Four people were injured with two needing medical attention. One of the reports was in Canada; the person was not injured.
IKEA reported that 11,443 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.
You are asked to stop using the dinnerware and return the product(s) to the IKEA Returns & Exchanges department for a full refund. Consumers are encouraged to check for store hours and openings due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
