There is a big drop in cases in the latest COVID-19 update from the Halton Region.
Across Halton, there are 76 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 16,632. With 15,778 resolved cases and 220 deaths, Halton is now at 719 active cases – 85 less than Thursday’s count. The Region says that of the 16,632 total cases, 16,071 were confirmed positive while 561 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 20 new cases. That brings us to 5420 total cases. With 5183 resolved cases and 45 deaths, Milton is at 192 active cases – 29 less than Thursday’s number. The Region says that of the 5420 total cases, 5212 were confirmed positive while 208 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 4949 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 1747 total variant cases.
The Halton Region is also noting vaccination numbers. A total of 243,405 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 213,190 of the doses were to Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 9031 doses have been administered to people aged 16-24;
- 8362 doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
- 9785 doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
- 11,539 doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
- 18,211 doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
- 19,802 doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 21,409 doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 25,326 doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 26,624 doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 24,213 doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,467 doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,476 doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 29,146 doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 14 doses have been administered to people that are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 34,226 doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 20,049 doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 189,130 doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
