The Halton Regional Police Service has arrested two Burlington residents in a drug trafficking investigation.
On Wednesday, May 12th, investigators made a pair of arrests in Burlington and seized a loaded firearm, multiple rounds of ammunition and various illegal drugs.
31-year-old Derval Mitchell of Burlington was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (2 counts)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – MDMA
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (2 counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Defaced Serial Number
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm With Ammunition
- Careless Storage (2 counts)
- Contravention of Storage Regulations (2 counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Fail to Report Lost, Stolen, Found Weapons
- Weapons Dangerous
- Possession Contrary to Order (3 counts)
28-year-old Chavon Douglas of Burlington was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (2 counts)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – MDMA
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (2 counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Defaced Serial Number
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm With Ammunition
- Careless Storage (2 counts)
- Contravention of Storage Regulations (2 counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Fail to Report Lost, Stolen, Found Weapons
- Weapons Dangerous
Douglas was released from custody pending a June court appearance in Milton, while Mitchell has been held for a bail hearing.
Along with the unauthorized firearm, investigators also located and seized 57 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of MDMA, and more than $19,000 in cash.
