The Halton Regional Police Service says that five people are facing impaired driving charges.
The five incidents all took place last week across Halton. Two of the cases involve Milton.
On Monday, April 5th, just after 6:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Mill Street West and Dublin Line in Acton. As a result of an investigation, a 45-year-old Acton resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, April 5th, just after 9:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Fairview Street and Woodview Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 39-year-old Brampton resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, April 7th, just before 8:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Main Street East and Bronte Street South in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Milton resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, April 7th, just after 9:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of George Street and Elm Avenue in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old Milton resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, April 8th, just after 6:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Dorval Drive and North Service Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 66-year-old Oakville resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
