The Milton Community Resource Centre is holding a raffle to help fight period poverty.
‘Swing into Spring’ is a weekly raffle that will be held on every Friday in April.
The MCRC Fundraising Events Lead, Madelyn Boelhouwer, tells you what to expect.
The menstrual products will also be in MCRC public washrooms.
Boelhouwer says another reason ‘Swing into Spring’ was developed was to help create awareness for period poverty.
Period poverty is a lack of access to menstrual products, as well as a lack of education. She says that young mothers are sometimes faced with the situation of purchasing period products or feeding their children. That can often lead to some scary decisions.
All proceeds raised will go directly to supporting their Period Poverty Initiative, which provides Infant Food Bank families and women in the community with resources needed and free menstrual products.
Boelhouwer says MCRC is trying to ensure that women in Milton have access to free menstrual products.
Tickets for the raffle are just $5 each. Get yours at the MCRC website.
