The Halton Police has arrested a Milton man wanted in connection with a police pursuit in Peterborough in February.
On February 19th, officers were in the area of Dalhousie Street and Rubidge Street in Peterborough when they saw a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. When officers put on their emergency lights, the vehicle initially stopped, but then drove off. Officers followed the suspect vehicle, but it continued to accelerate heading westbound on Sherbrooke Street. The pursuit was then called off.
During the pursuit, officers saw a bag being tossed out of the vehicle. They located the bag and confiscated a loaded revolver and 50-60 rounds of ammunition.
A warrant was issued for 23-year-old Kaynan Shultz of Milton with the following charges:
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Flight from police
- Dangerous operation
And two Highway Traffic Act (HTA) charges:
- Fail to stop for police
- Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
Shultz was arrested on unrelated charges in Halton and was turned over to Peterborough Police.
The accused has been held in custody and appeared in court on Tuesday, March 30th.
