Three people are facing impaired driving charges after being stopped in Halton last weekend.
None of the three cases involved Milton.
On March 19th, just before 4:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Brant Street and North Service Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 56-year-old Burlington resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On March 20th, just before 12:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Wendy Lane and Rebecca Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 40-year-old Oakville resident was charged with operation while impaired.
On March 20th, just before 3:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Plains Road East and Willowbrook Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 27-year-old Hamilton resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on;
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
