The Halton Region has updated its COVID-19 statistics and there is another jump in new cases.
Across Halton, there are 58 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 10,559. With 10,031 resolved cases and 200 deaths, Halton is now at 328 active cases – 15 more than Wednesday’s count. The Region says that of the 10,559 total cases, 10,215 were confirmed positive while 344 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 12 new cases. That brings us to 3338 total cases. With 3192 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton is now at 110 active cases – two more than Wednesday’s number. The Region says that of the 3338 total cases, 3220 were confirmed positive while 118 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 443 total variant cases have been found in Halton: 414 were screen positive and 29 were confirmed variants of concern. Milton has reportedly had 143 total variant cases: 131 were screened positive while 12 were confirmed variants of concern.
The outbreak at Maplehurst has closed. The outbreak had been ongoing since Monday, January 18th. It was classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. There had been 303 total cases reported during this outbreak. 192 have been residents, 13 have been staff members, and 98 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. A death that was previously attributed to the outbreak was removed from the stats.
The Halton Region is also noting vaccination numbers. The numbers are updated weekly, with the most recent being on Friday, March 19th. A total of 51,954 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton:
- 32,529 have been administered through the Halton Healthcare COVID-19 Vaccination Centre;
- 12,473 have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 6,952 have been administered through the newly launched COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
