COVID-19: More than 30 new cases across Halton, 11 in Milton

There are 31 new cases of COVID-19 across Halton for Thursday, March 11th.

That brings the Region’s total to 9914 cases. With 9421 resolved cases and 198 deaths, Halton is now at 295 active cases – five less than Wednesday’s count. The Region says that of the 9914 total cases, 9601 were confirmed positive while 313 were considered probable cases.

Milton made up for 11 of those 31 new cases. Our total is up to 3139 cases. With 2999 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton is now at 104 active cases – two more than yesterday. The Region says that of the 3139 total cases, 3035 were confirmed positive while 104 were considered probable cases.

The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 182 total variant cases have been found in Halton: 161 were screen positive and 21 were confirmed variants of concern. Milton has reportedly had 54 total variant cases: 43 were screened positive while 11 were confirmed variants of concern.

The outbreak at Maplehurst is reportedly still open. On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is the Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 302 total cases reported during this outbreak. 191 have been residents, 13 have been staff members, and 98 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. A death that was previously attributed to the outbreak was recently removed from the stats.
