The Halton Region says that there are just 33 new cases of COVID-19 in Halton for Wednesday, March 10th.
That brings the Region’s total to 9883 cases. With 9385 resolved cases and 198 deaths, Halton is now at 300 active cases – five less than Tuesday’s count. The Region says that of the 9883 total cases, 9571 were confirmed positive while 312 were considered probable cases.
Milton made up for 12 of those 33 new cases. Our total is up to 3128 cases. With 2990 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton is now at 102 active cases – one more than yesterday. The Region says that of the 3128 total cases, 3025 were confirmed positive while 103 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 165 total variant cases have been found in Halton: 144 were screen positive and 21 were confirmed variants of concern. Milton has reportedly had 46 total variant cases: 35 were screened positive while 11 were confirmed variants of concern.
The outbreak at Maplehurst is reportedly still open. On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is the Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 303 total cases reported during this outbreak. 191 have been residents, 13 have been staff members, one unspecified case, and 98 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. A death that was previously attributed to the outbreak was recently removed from the stats.
