Active cases in Milton and Halton have risen over the weekend.
The Region is reporting 34 new cases of COVID-19 in Halton. That raises the total to 9780 cases. With 9308 resolved cases and 198 deaths, Halton is now at 274 active cases – 13 more than Friday’s total. The Region says that of the 9780 total cases, 9474 were confirmed positive while 306 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, there are 16 new cases. The total is now 3095 cases. With 2972 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton is now at 87 active cases – 20 more than the total published on Friday. The Region says that of the 3095 total cases, 2997 were confirmed positive while 98 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 138 total variant cases have been found in Halton: 117 were screen positive and 21 were confirmed variants of concern. Milton has reportedly had 39 total variant cases: 28 were screened positive while 11 were confirmed variants of concern.
The outbreak at Maplehurst is reportedly still open. On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is the Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 303 total cases reported during this outbreak. 194 have been residents, 13 have been staff members, and 96 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has now been one death at the Correctional Facility. It’s been determined to be a ‘non-Halton’ case.
