The latest COVID-19 stats for Milton and Halton show another drop in new cases.
Across Halton, there are 28 new cases. That brings the Region up to 9538 total cases. With 9089 resolved cases and 196 deaths, Halton now has 253 active cases – two more than yesterday. The Region says that of the 9538 total cases, 9238 were confirmed positive while 300 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have five new cases. The total is now up to 3008 cases. With 2918 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton is now at 54 active cases – six less than yesterday’s count. The Region says that of the 3008 total cases, 2910 were confirmed positive while 98 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 77 total variant cases have been found in Halton: 64 were screen positive and 13 were confirmed variants of concern. Milton has reportedly had 18 total variant cases: 11 were screened positive while seven were confirmed variants of concern.
Looking at Milton’s major ongoing outbreaks:
- Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 34 reported cases at Allendale. 19 are residents, three are staff members, four are unspecified, and the other eight are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been seven deaths at the LTCH: six were residents, while the other one is still not specified.
- On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 300 total cases reported during this outbreak. 190 have been residents, 13 have been staff members, and 97 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has now been one death at the Correctional Facility. It’s been determined to be a ‘non-Halton’ case.
