The Milton Rotary Club is looking to help local youth.
The Rotary Milton Youth Summit is being held virtually next month. The theme for the event is ‘Be Tomorrow’s Leaders Today’.
The Director of Community Services for the Rotary Club, Rod McLachlan, says the event is looking to help youth with the issues they face.
He’s very excited for the event, saying it’s really near-and-dear to the Club’s heart.
McLachlan speaks to the importance of working with local youth.
The first time event is being kicked off thanks to a grant that the Milton Rotary Club received. It’s possible that this event could expand to an annual, or even monthly, speaker series.
McLachlan adds that this event isn’t necessarily solely for Milton youth. The age range for the event is set for 12-24. He hopes that people looking to improve their skills, as well as build their resume, can come out and learn something new.
Some local organizations will be taking part, such as Sustainable Milton. Local businesses will also be lending a hand, with McLachlan noting that the Ontario Training Network will be helping in navigating the online training aspect of the event.
The free virtual Rotary Milton Youth Summit is on Saturday, April 10th. It will run via Zoom from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..
You can sign up to the call through the Milton Rotary Club website. At the time of the interview, roughly 25 local youths had signed up to take part. McLachlan hopes to have about 200 people registered.
