The Halton Region is reporting that a Milton resident has died from COVID-19.
The death gives Milton 36 deaths from the virus, and Halton 191 deaths total. Oakville has 58 deaths, Burlington has 49 deaths, and Halton Hills has 48 deaths.
The latest Milton death is connected to the Allendale outbreak. There have been seven deaths at the LTCH: six were residents, while the other one is still not specified. Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 33 reported cases at Allendale. 19 are residents, three are staff members, three are unspecified, and the other eight are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Looking at the other major ongoing outbreak in Milton:
- On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 293 total cases reported during this outbreak. 188 have been residents, 12 have been staff members, and 93 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Across Halton, there are 30 new cases. That brings the total to 9284 cases. With 8878 resolved cases and 191 deaths, Halton is now at 215 active cases – one more than yesterday.
In Milton, we have seven new cases. Our total is now 2945 cases. With 2838 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton now has 71 active cases – one more than yesterday.
