A Halton resident has been reported as dead from COVID-19.
Since Friday, February 19th, the Halton Region has recorded its 190th death from the virus. The death appears to have been a Halton Hills resident, giving the township 48 deaths total from COVID. Milton is at 35 deaths, Burlington has 49 deaths, and Oakville has 58 deaths.
Across Halton, there are 31 new cases of COVID-19. The total number is up to 9254 cases. With 8850 resolved cases and 190 deaths, Halton is now at 214 active cases – 30 less than Friday’s number.
In Milton, we have 14 new cases. That brings our total to 2938 cases. With 2833 resolved cases and 35 deaths, Milton is now at 70 active cases – nine more than Friday’s count.
Looking at Milton’s major ongoing outbreaks:
- Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 33 reported cases at Allendale. 19 are residents, three are staff members, three are unspecified, and the other eight are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been six deaths at the LTCH: five were residents, while the other one is still not specified.
- On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 292 total cases reported during this outbreak. 188 have been residents, 12 have been staff members, and 92 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
