Two more Halton residents are dead from COVID-19.
The deaths give the Region 179 total from the virus. They were both Burlington residents, giving the city 47 deaths total. For reference, Halton Hills has 41 deaths, Milton has 33 deaths, and Oakville has 58 deaths from COVID-19.
Across Halton, there are 37 new cases. That brings the total to 8912 cases. With 8330 resolved cases and 179 deaths, Halton is now at 403 active cases – 15 more than Wednesday’s count.
In Milton, we have five new cases. That brings our total case count to 2837. With 2655 resolved cases and 33 deaths, Milton is now at 149 active cases – one less than yesterday.
Looking at Milton’s major ongoing outbreaks:
- Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 26 reported cases at Allendale. 12 are residents, two are staff members, six are unspecified, and the other six are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been four deaths at the LTCH: two were residents, while the other two are still not specified.
- On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 275 total cases reported during this outbreak. 177 have been residents, nine have been staff members, four are currently unspecified, and 85 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
