A lot of new cases are being reported at Maplehurst Correctional Facility.
About 50 new cases have been reported from the outbreak. At the time of writing, ‘Congregate Living – 37’ has 240 cases on the Halton Region’s website. 113 of the cases are residents, nine are staff members, 46 are unspecified for now, and 72 are considered ‘non-Halton’ cases. Fortunately, there have been no reported deaths linked to the outbreak at Maplehurst.
Looking at the other major ongoing outbreak in Milton:
- Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 18 reported cases at Allendale. Eight are residents, two are staff members, three are unspecified, and the other five are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been two deaths. One was a resident, the other hasn’t been specified just yet.
The spike at Maplehurst gives Halton a total of 84 new cases. The total number is up to 8608 cases. With 8036 resolved cases and 168 deaths, Halton is now at 404 active cases – 44 more than yesterday.
In Milton, there are 67 new cases. The total number is 2761 cases. With 2571 resolved cases and 31 deaths, Milton is now at 159 active cases – 63 more than yesterday.
There are five more deaths in Halton. Two of the deaths appear to be Burlington residents (42 deaths total) , while the other three are Oakville residents (57 deaths total). Halton Hills remains at 38 deaths total.
