A pandemic is never an easy time for mental health.
The urgency of dealing with mental health issues has been magnified over this last year.
Former TSN host and mental health advocate Michael Landsberg tells myFM News that the many months of this pandemic has sharpened the point of need for Bell Let’s Talk Day.
He adds that if you’re experiencing mental illness, don’t deal with it alone. Seeking help is not a weakness. According to Landsberg, there’s a perception that mental illness is a weakness. He hopes that over the years, Bell Let’s Talk Day addresses that issue.
Sharing is an important part of the process. You need to be comfortable with talking about your issues.
Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve had our personal and work lives disrupted. We were told about the impact that this disruption would have on us. Landsberg says that that is one more reason why it’s important for businesses to treat mental illness like physical illness.
In September, 2020, Bell donated $20,000 to the Milton District Hospital as part of last year’s Bell Let’s Talk Day. You can read that story here.
Bell Let’s Talk Day is on Thursday, January 28th.
