An update on the Campbellville Quarry has been provided by Milton MPP Parm Gill.
He says that the Ontario Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, John Yakabuski, is now calling for an Environmental Assessment.
“I am very pleased Minister Yakabuski is joining me, and our community, in calling for an Environment Assessment for the proposed Reid Road quarry. This is great news and a massive step forward. Although the pandemic has shifted timelines and deadlines, my commitment against this quarry application is unwavering.”
More than 1,100 formal objections from residents have been written during the recent public consultation period. According to MPP Gill, the objections ranged from concerns regarding fly-rock, increased traffic and most notably, blasting below the water table – which could affect the area’s water supply.
In 2019, Gill penned a letter to Minister Yakabuski calling for an Environmental Assessment to be made. Then, last year, Gill stood beside the Ontario Premier when Ford exclaimed that he was against the Quarry.
