An outbreak in Milton has caused a major jump in new cases.
On January 18th, an outbreak was declared at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’ in Milton. Since then, 75 cases of COVID-19 have been reportedly due to this outbreak.
There are also three more deaths in Halton, giving the Region 151 deaths total. Two of the deaths are out of Oakville (52), and the third was a Halton Hills resident (37). Burlington remains at 33 deaths, and Milton is still at 29 deaths from the virus.
Across Halton, there are 114 new cases. That brings the Region’s total to 7875 cases. With 7227 resolved cases and 151 deaths, Halton is now at 497 active cases – 45 more than yesterday.
In Milton, we have 71 new cases. Our total is now 2496 cases. With 2282 resolved cases and 29 deaths, Milton is now at 185 active cases – 47 more than yesterday.
Taking a look at the ongoing institutional outbreaks in Milton:
- Since December 16th, there have been 57 cases reported at Revera Birkdale Place. 40 of the cases have been residents, eleven have been staff members, three are unspecified, and three are ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has been one death associated to the outbreak at the retirement home. It was a resident.
- As of Sunday, January 10th, a third outbreak has begun at Allendale. As of the time of writing, there are seven reported cases. Two are residents, three are unspecified, and the other two are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There is one death reported at the LTCH. It was a resident.
