It was believed that the man was also mistreating the animal. Officers received information that there were multiple electrical and fire code violations inside the home, as well. The HRPS then obtained a search warrant for the home.
With the assistance of the Burlington Fire Department, Animal Control and EMS, officers entered the residence and arrested a 55-year-old man. He has been charged with:
- Causing Damage or Injury to an Animal
- Breach Release Order
- Mischief Over $5000
- Keep Live Game Wildlife in Captivity (Fishing and Wildlife Conservation Act)
The man’s name has not been released by the HRPS.
The raccoon was discovered inside of the home. Unfortunately, due to the health condition of the animal, it was seized and euthanized by Animal Control.
