Financial investing in 2021 may seem a little intimidating.
With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to affect industries around the world, some may have questions on how to invest. As we enter a new year, Senior Financial Planner with IG Wealth Management in Milton, Brandon Parkes, says it’s not as scary as it sounds.
The market fell off a cliff in mid-late March, seeing entire industries take 50-75% hits to their share prices. myFM News spoke with Parkes in July on how to navigate your finances during the pandemic. At the time, Parkes said he had wished that he actually took advantage of the dip sooner.
He says now that we’re in 2021 and he can look back on the year that was, he says 2020 was a great year financially. People were able to improve their positions, interests fell through the floor, and he knows some people who accelerated their retirement date by ten years.
Some people experienced the drop in the market in 2020 and got out of the market; some jumped in head first. Parkes says that residents should look at the last year and use it as a learning experience.
He adds that if anything extreme happens in the market this year like we saw in March of last year, reach out. Professional advisors are there to help you with your money.
