Habitat For Humanity Halton-Mississauga is looking forward to 2021.
The charitable organization says the year is starting off with some good news as its Milton ReStore will be staying put at its current location. Habitat moved into the old Milton RONA building in September, 2019.
The Regional Manager of ReStore Operations, Katrina Rittinger, says staying put is big for them.
2020 was an up-and-down year for Habitat For Humanity Halton-Mississauga. The pandemic forced it to shift its operations entirely, and in some cases, close down due to provincial shutdowns. Recently, it experienced a robbery at a construction site in Mississauga. It was the second robbery Habitat For Humanity Halton-Mississauga experienced in just over a year.
However, there is good news to report. Rittinger says they finished construction on their Queensway build in Burlington with 18 townhomes. A Mississauga project is expected to be finished likely by April, which will include four units. A project in Georgetown on King Street is also underway.
Rittinger says it was unfortunate that they had to close down in 2020 due to the shutdown. Now that we’re into our second province-wide shutdown, she says they’ve shifted things around and are moving to curbside pick-up at the Milton ReStore.
It will be something new for Habitat For Humanity Halton-Mississauga. The curbside pick-up will be available through Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji, according to Rittinger.
You can find the Milton ReStore at 700 Main Street East in Milton, at the intersection with Wilson Drive.
