The Region of Halton is reporting that seven people have died from COVID-19 since Christmas Eve.
Halton is now up to 107 deaths from the virus. Four of the deaths were Oakville residents, giving the town 39 deaths; two were Halton Hills residents, giving it 19 deaths; and, one was a Milton resident, giving us 25 deaths total.
A death has occurred at Allendale. The LTCH now has 19 deaths since its outbreak began on November 13th. All 19 deaths have been residents. It has had 88 reported cases: 60 residents, 14 staff members, two unspecified cases, 12 ‘non-Halton’ cases.
A death is being reported at Martindale Gardens. Its outbreak began on December 14th. Since then, there have been seven cases: one resident, two staff members, two unspecified cases, and two ‘non-Halton’ cases. The death is reported as a resident of the home, and is its first death related to COVID-19 since the outbreak began.
Another death is being reported as a result of a Milton outbreak. The Region of Halton says a death has occurred at Revera Birkdale Place. At the time of writing, it is unknown if the person was a resident, staff member, or is considered a ‘non-Halton’ case. It is the first at the retirement home related to COVID-19. Revera has had 48 reported cases of COVID-19: 35 residents, seven staff members, four unspecified cases, and two ‘non-Halton’ cases. The outbreak began on December 16th.
On Thursday, December 24th, it was reported that a resident at the Milton District Hospital had died of COVID-19 due to its outbreak that has been ongoing since December 12th. Since then, the Region of Halton has removed the death from the outbreak’s totals. Since the 12th, the Hospital has had seven cases: four residents and three ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Across Halton, there are 108 new cases. The total is now 5745 cases. With 5082 resolved cases and 107 deaths, the region is now at 556 active cases.
In Milton, we have 35 new cases. Our total is up to 1754 cases. With 1571 resolved cases and 25 deaths, Milton now has 158 active cases.
Reminder that Friday, January 1st will not have any released numbers. The Region of Halton says it will continue to tally the stats; however, it will not be releasing the numbers until January 2nd. That means there could be higher than usual daily numbers released on Saturday.
