The Halton Regional Police Service has arrested a barricaded male in Milton after a long negotiation.
Officers first responded to the scene near the area of Bennett Boulevard and Hepburn Road in Milton at roughly 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. They had received a call of a male barricading himself in a home, possibly with weapons.
Frontline officers, TAC, K9, and negotiators were deployed to the scene. In a release, the Halton Police says the goal was to bring the situation to a safe conclusion.
As noted in the previous article below, roads were closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the immediate area.
After several hours, the male was taken into custody. He is charged with uttering threats to cause death, mischief and assault with a weapon.
The name nor age of the male has not been released.
The Halton Regional Police Service is asking residents to avoid an area of Milton near Thompson Road South and Clark Boulevard.
There is a heavy police presence in the area.
It adds that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
