Help fill cribs with the Infant Food Bank.
The Milton Community Resource Centre is holding its annual Fill-a-Crib event. In partnership with the Salvation Army, the MCRC’s Infant Food Bank is currently supporting, on average, over 100 babies per month. According to ‘Our Halton 2018′ data, Milton’s children have the highest poverty rate in the Halton region.
The Fundraising Lead for the MCRC, Madelyn Boelhouwer, says the goal is to fill 30 cribs with everything that a baby needs.
The things that are being asked for (formula, food, diapers, wipes, menstrual products, etc.) are crucial to the development of a child, as well as the parent’s development into parenthood, Boelhouwer explains.
The annual fundraiser is changing a little due to COVID-19. This year, more emphasis is being done on the online aspect of raising donations.
Boelhouwer says they’re just as happy to receive monetary donations as they are with the physical donations.
This week, Boelhouwer says they’ve reached the 20-cribs mark. With the second province-wide shutdown in Ontario beginning on Saturday, December 26th, donations will now be done entirely online.
Fill-a-Crib runs until January 30th.
