Ontario is preparing for a province-wide shutdown that starts on Boxing Day.
Additional restrictions will be put into place and reinforce that Ontarians should stay at home as much as possible to minimize transmission of the virus and prevent hospitals from becoming overwhelmed. The province-wide shutdown will go into effect as of Saturday, December 26th, at 12:01 a.m.. More on the shutdown can be read here.
The President and CEO of the Milton Chamber of Commerce, Scott McCammon, says some local businesses will be hit hard over the next month.
He adds that he hopes more businesses continue to switch over to online services. That way they may be able to push through this next shutdown.
McCammon says the Milton Chamber is continuing to offer tips and tricks for small business owners.

It is currently several weeks into a new campaign to support local businesses called ‘#EatLocalMilton‘. Residents are able to submit their receipts from select local restaurants. Several draws will be held with the winners receiving gift cards to the restaurants the winner had supported. There’s an early bird gift card, worth $500, that will be drawn for the New Year. The rest of the prizes will be open until January 31st. There is $4000 worth of gift cards to be won.
McCammon says the campaign is running strong so far, and that he is amazed by the support this early into the initiative. He adds that with the province-wide shutdown expected to last for at least 28 days, receipts from take-out and curbside orders will be accepted for the campaign.
