Your wish has been granted: 2020 is coming to an end.
myFM News is finishing the year by checking in on local figures and organizations.
The Regional Councillor for Milton’s Ward 4, Zeeshan Hamid, says that, staying away from the negative things that 2020 brought, it was definitely an interesting year.
He adds that not going to local events and meeting with people is definitely an adjustment for him as a politician and active community member.
Some of the positive stories that Councillor Hamid chose to highlight include Milton residents going out of their way to acknowledge frontline workers for everything that they do. He says his neighbourhood was filled with people clapping and cheering on the workers as they came home or left for work.
Another was how the Town of Milton was able to adapt on the fly. He says one big thing coming out of 2020 was how well staff and Councillors worked together to agree on a Town Budget for 2021. You can read more on that budget here.
He hopes that with the COVID-19 vaccine finally into the distribution phase in Halton, we can start to head towards a more “normal” life. Councillor Hamid feels it’ll be a long process, but a necessary one.
He adds that he wants to make sure that he and the Town don’t drop the ball next year. He hopes they can take advantage of everything that is presented to them so that they aren’t looking back in December, 2021 thinking “oh, what could have been?”
On a personal level, Hamid says that he hopes to maintain some of the new skills and life lessons that he picked up while adapting through 2020.
He asks that Miltonians get more involved in 2021, adding that you can reach out to him at any time.
