The Region of Halton is reporting more deaths from COVID-19 in Milton.
Five residents have died between Friday and today. The deaths bring Milton up to 15 deaths from COVID-19; Halton is at 72 total. All five deaths were residents at Allendale. The outbreak, which began on November 13th, has had 57 total cases reported. 48 of them have been residents, seven are staff members, and two have not yet been specified. When accounting for the five new deaths, there have been 10 deaths total during this outbreak – all ten have been residents.
For Milton in general, there are 24 new cases today. The total number is up to 1229. The Region has changed how it accounts for active and resolved cases, you can read more on that here. With 1082 resolved cases and the 15 deaths, Milton is at 132 active cases – a sharp drop from the 336 active cases reported on Friday.
Across Halton, there were 58 new cases reported today. The Region is up to 4099 total cases. With 3654 resolved cases and the 72 deaths, Halton is at 373 active cases – less than half of the number that was reported on Friday.
Even with the change in how the Region counts active cases, Milton still has the highest active case count among Halton municipalities. Burlington is now second with 118; Oakville has 97; and, Halton Hills has 26 active cases.
