Are you finding garbage on the side of Milton roads?
Posts have been popping up on social media about the issue lately. It’s been a common occurrence in the rural areas of Milton, and is not unique to our town by any means.
However, the Regional Councillor for Ward 3, Mike Cluett, says it’s been an issue here for years. He says he’s been hearing about it from residents since he was first sworn into his position ten years ago.
Some may suspect that what is happening is the people dumping the garbage have missed the truck in the morning and don’t feel like hanging on to the trash for another two weeks.
Cluett says that if you miss the garbage truck, you can take it to the Waste Management Site on Regional Road 25.
He adds that they have found the issue to be caused by a lot of contractors, either from in-town or out-of-town, who are looking to get rid of material.
If you see anyone dumping waste on the side of a road, Cluett asks that you contact 3-1-1. They will send someone over to pick the garbage up. You can also use the Town of Milton’s My Milton app. All you’d need to do is take a picture and submit it with the location. Staff will arrive as soon as possible to clean the mess.
The less waste on the side of our roads, the less enticing it’ll be for people to toss more away.
