There’s been an increase in hiking over the course of the pandemic.
The Halton Police is asking residents to stay safe on the trails.
It has provided a list of tips:
- Tell someone where you are going and when you intend to return home
- Ensure you have a map of the area you are hiking in
- Dress appropriately for the weather, and be prepared for changing weather conditions
- Allow enough time to complete your hike before it gets dark
- Carry a charged cell phone with you
- Make sure you have enough water and food for your hike
- Carry a basic first-aid kit
The Halton Police adds that it hopes that people understand that hiking comes with its own risks, and that using the tips provided can help limit any unnecessary risks.
