A Milton seven-year old is continuing his local fundraiser.
Seven-year old Ethan Bill is currently receiving treatments for a brain tumour. He and his brother, Edward, are also raising money for McMaster Children’s Hospital and Camp Ooch by selling homemade bath-bomb kits. Ethan started selling the bath bomb kits in order to earn his North Star Scout Badge, where he says he had to either raise money for charity or do something to help the community.
The original goal was $1,000, which they were questioning if they could reach that amount.
He and his mom, Stacey Bourbonnais, say the fundraiser is going a lot better than expected.
With more than $3500 raised, they have increased their goal to $5,000 and have extended the fundraiser into the Holiday season. Ethan says the kits make great Christmas presents.
Bourbonnais says they wanted to keep going because the support from the community blew them away.
It’s not Ethan, Edward, and Stacey’s first time fundraising. The boys always hold contests on their birthdays where friends and family come by and guess how much of a certain candy is in a jar. myFM even featured the family in an article here. This year, with COVID-19, they did a drive-by with everyone and had them guess how many centimetres of Twizzlers were in a jar. Bourbonnais says the birthday fundraising started because she wanted to remind her boys that, while it’s nice to receive presents every year, it’s a much better feeling to give back.
The last time myFM spoke with Ethan, he said he was doing okay, but had headaches every day. Bourbonnais said it was hard, but he’s dealing with the headaches well. Now, she says that Ethan is undergoing a special new treatment and is seeing improvements!
By the way, Ethan has checked off everything on the list needed to get his North Star Scout Badge. He’s expecting to get the badge after he makes a presentation to his Cubs group.
You can purchase a homemade bath-bomb kit to help Ethan reach his fundraising goal of $5000. They are $10, and you get two bath bombs out of each kit.
