A Milton youth is selling bath bomb kits to raise money for a Hamilton children’s hospital.
Seven-year old Ethan Bill is currently receiving chemo treatments for a brain tumour. He was diagnosed with the tumour when he was about five-years old.
He started selling the bath bomb kits in order to earn his North Star Scout Badge, where he says he had to either raise money for charity or do something to help the community. Ethan, with the kind of honesty only a kid could have, says he wanted to raise money for charity because he thought it’d be easier.
Ethan and his mom, Stacey Bourbonnais, explain where the idea of bath bomb kits came from.
The money raised from selling the bath bomb kits will go to McMaster Children’s Hospital, as well as Camp Ooch. Ethan has been receiving his treatment at McMaster, with Camp Ooch being a good escape for a child in his situation. They would have people in the treatment centre helping keep the kids busy with activities while they receive chemotherapy.
Camp Ooch describes itself as, “a privately funded, nonprofit oncology camp that brings laughter and joy to kids and families affected by childhood cancer.” Bourbonnais says that the Camp has organized a wide-arrange of activities for the kids over the years, from crafts, to baking, to karate, to science experiments. There was even a ‘Night at the Museum’ event where the children were allowed to spend the night in a museum.
Ethan and his mom say that he’s doing okay, for the most part.
Ethan’s brother was also in the Cub Scouts and held a charity lemonade stand. Bourbonnais says when they did that little event, she had a lot of friends asking when the next one would be, and the one after that. They raised some money and were blown away by the public support. Now, a few years later, and her friends have purchased twenty bath bomb kits each, helping them reach about $700.
You can help Ethan reach the $1000 mark by purchasing a bath bomb kit. They are $10, and you get two bath bombs out of each kit.
You can order them by emailing FundraiserForEthan@gmail.com.
They can do porch pick-up in Milton or Hamilton, and porch drop-off anywhere in the GTA.
