Liberal voters in Milton will have one more candidate to choose from.
Galen Naidoo Harris has thrown his hat into the ring.
He’s seeking the nomination for the Ontario Liberal Party in Milton.
He explains why.
Like mother, like son.
The position Naidoo Harris is seeking nomination for was once held by his mother, former Milton MPP, Indira Naidoo Harris. She held the position of Milton’s MPP from 2014-2018, losing to current MPP Parm Gill in the most recent provincial election.
Galen still remembers the moment that his mother told his family that she was running for office. He says the Liberal Party quickly became something more to him than just what his mother supported.
With the COVID-19 pandemic taking up much of the year and impacting the lives of every resident, there are plenty of issues that have arisen from it. Naidoo Harris runs over the issues he’s looking to address should he be named the Ontario Liberal Party candidate for Milton, and go on to win the MPP position in the next provincial election.
Politics can sometimes be considered ‘the old boys club’. Like with a lot of jobs, it’s harder for younger people to get in the door when they lack decades of experience. Naidoo Harris believes that, while he’s young (25-years old and counting), you shouldn’t confuse that with inexperience.
Naidoo Harris says traditionally, he’d go door-to-door to hear from residents. The pandemic makes it pretty hard to do that, so he’s looking for new ways to connect with residents about local issues.
He stresses that he’s always acceptable, adding that you can reach him at 416-564-0804 to discuss any issues. You can also visit his website. He says his goal is to engage in open and transparent dialogue with residents across Milton. On his website, you can even register to vote. It previously cost money to register; however, the Liberal Party recently made it free to register.
