Milton Transit provided their mid-year update at the latest Town Council meeting.
On Monday, September 21st, the Manager of Transit for the Town of Milton, Tony D’Alessandro, held a presentation for Milton’s Councillors, Staff, and viewing residents.
A big factor for Milton Transit in 2020 has been that ridership numbers have taken a major hit due to the pandemic. D’Alessandro says that while those numbers are down, there are some silver linings.
According to D’Alessandro, that includes their new contactless payment options through Token Transit, as well as updating their transit fare policies, and their ‘Kids Under 12 Ride Free‘ campaign.
The level of uncertainty has definitely been a factor for Milton Transit, says D’Alessandro to myFM News. Typically, transit services plan months in advance. That just can’t be the case when things are always evolving with COVID-19. With the many stages of reopening, he says it’s been hard to predict what level of service has been needed these past six months.
If you’re looking to minimize the amount of touch points and interaction between you and other people, D’Alessandro recommends you give the Token Transit app a try. It’s free on iOS and the Google Play Store. You can also find it on the Town of Milton’s website.
