The Town of Milton is getting ready to sort out their budget.
Milton’s Council was recently a part of a workshop that focused on the 2021 budget.
Regional Councillor Zeeshan Hamid says it’s going to be a tough budget because of COVID-19.
He says it will be a hard balance to strike, forcing them to ‘sharpen their pencils’ and go through each page line-by-line to make sure everything is covered.
This may even be the year where they dip into their reserves.
There is the possibility of a property tax increase of 5%. Councillor Hamid says he’s entirely certain it will not be as high as 5%. He believes the Town of Milton is more likely to dip into their reserves before residents are faced with high tax increases.
The budget talk will officially begin at Council later in the year. Last year’s budget was a focus around November and December, and was even delayed into this year.
