
The Halton Regional Police Service has ended its investigation into a robbery at a Burlington gas station.
The robbery happened at roughly 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 6th, when a male entered an Esso Gas Station on Plains Road.
The suspect is said to have jumped over the counter with a knife in hand. The store clerk tried to protect themself with their hands, and in doing so, was cut badly. The victim was transported by ambulance to Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital where he received a number of stitches. The Halton Police Service says the victim suffered a major cut on one finger, and had the tip of another cut off. The man was eventually released from hospital after receiving medical treatment.
The suspect fled with $550.
An investigation by officers led to them finding that the suspect had attempted to break-in to the store a day before. The break-and-enter attempt ended when the store clerk from the robbery confronted the male and the male fled.
A 16-year old was arrested and charged with a list offences. According to the Halton Police, the unnamed minor is not from Burlington.
The charges are:
- Robbery;
- Aggravated Assault;
- Disguise with Intent;
- Attempt Break and Enter.
The Young Offender was held for bail and appeared in Milton Court on September 8th.
